YouTube Consuming 22% Mobile Data Bandwidth Reveals Report

Google’s YouTube video sharing platform is responsible for using 22 percent of the world’s mobile data bandwidth usage, it has been revealed.

According to the H1 2011 Allot MobileTrends Report released by service optimisation firm Allot Communications, mobile data bandwidth usage rose by 77 percent during the first half of the current year.

The company said that mobile video streaming increased by 93 percent, accounting for 39 percent of mobile bandwidth. YouTube dominated the mobile video streaming scene, responsible for 22 percent of mobile data bandwidth and 52 percent of total video streaming. [read more]
